Is your child having difficulty saying certain sounds clearly or being understood by others?
You're in the right place.
Speech sound development takes time, but persistent difficulties can affect how clearly a child is understood. At Diverse Learners, we look at your child’s speech development, sound patterns, and overall ability to be understood to provide individualized support focused on clear, comfortable communication in everyday life.
Who Can Benefit?
Articulation therapy may be helpful for children who:
- Are difficult for others to understand
- Substitute one sound for another
- Leave sounds out of words
- Have difficulty producing particular sounds, such as /r/, /s/, /l/, /th/, or /sh/
- Have difficulty with sound combinations, such as /sp/, /tr/, or /bl/
- Simplify longer or more complex words
- Use speech errors that are no longer expected for their age
- Become frustrated when others do not understand them
- Avoid speaking or participating because of concerns about their speech
- Have been told they have an articulation or phonological disorder
- Have a speech sound difficulty alongside other communication or learning differences
Speech sound difficulties can look very different from one child to another. An assessment helps us understand whether your child's speech patterns are developmentally expected and, if support is needed, which approach is most appropriate.

Our Approach to Articulation Therapy
During the Assessment
We look at which sounds are difficult, how your child produces them, and how their speech affects overall intelligibility. We also listen to connected speech to understand how their speech sounds in everyday conversation.
During Treatment
We tailor therapy to your child’s speech profile, working on new sounds, building consistency, and helping them use their sounds more clearly in words, sentences, and conversation. We choose practice words and activities around your child’s interests to keep therapy meaningful.
What Therapy Looks Like
Speech sound therapy is often structured, with direct practice of target sounds in words and sentences. That doesn’t necessarily mean sitting at a table for the whole session—we draw on our play-based training to make practice feel natural and engaging. As your child develops their skills, we gradually work toward using those sounds naturally in everyday communication.
Practice That Builds Progress
We use engaging activities while providing the repetition, feedback, and support needed to develop new speech patterns. Our goal is to help your child carry their new skills beyond the therapy session.
Supporting Clear Speech Beyond Therapy
Your child's speech is about more than saying sounds correctly
We want children to feel understood, confident, and comfortable using their voices. Whether your child needs support with one persistent sound or has a more complex speech sound profile, we take the time to understand the whole picture and create a therapy plan that is right for them.
Let's help your child communicate clearly and confidently.
