Does your child struggle to put sentences together, understand instructions, or explain themselves?
You're in the right place.
We support children with understanding language, finding words, building sentences, and expressing their ideas clearly. We also work on vocabulary, storytelling, comprehension, and the language skills needed for learning.
Who Can Benefit?
Communication and language therapy may be helpful if your child:
- Has difficulty understanding what others say
- Has difficulty finding or using words to express themselves
- Uses shorter or less complex sentences than expected
- Has difficulty learning or remembering new vocabulary
- Has difficulty answering questions or telling stories
- Has difficulty communicating wants, needs, thoughts, or ideas
- Becomes frustrated when trying to communicate
- Has difficulty participating in conversations or social interactions
- Communicates differently from other children their age
- Is autistic or neurodivergent and would benefit from support with communication and connection
- Uses or may benefit from AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) such as an iPad to help them to communicate
You don't need to wait for a diagnosis to seek support. If you're concerned about your child's communication or language development, we can help you understand their strengths and needs and determine what support may be helpful.

Our Approach to Supporting Language Skill Development in Children
At Diverse Learners, we take the time to understand how your child communicates, connects, and learns. Our therapy is strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and individualized to your child.
Connecting Language to Learning
Our experience includes working in both clinical and school settings, giving us a strong understanding of how language supports learning.
We support children with:
- Understanding instructions and classroom language
- Expressing ideas and answering questions
- Building vocabulary and sentences
- Storytelling and comprehension
- Language skills that support reading and writing
Supporting Different Ways of Communicating
For our neurodivergent clients, we dedicated our continued professional development in the following areas to support your child’s unique needs:
DIR®/Floortime™
A research-supported, relationship-based approach that uses a child’s interests and strengths to build communication, engagement, emotional connection, and flexible thinking.
- Building communication through connection and engagement
- Following your child’s interests and motivation
- Supporting communication through meaningful interaction
Alternative & Augmentative Communication (AAC)
- Supporting families to select, program and implement the use of AAC with their child
- Developing reliable, meaningful ways to communicate
- Helping families create communication opportunities throughout the day
Gestalt Language Processing (GLP)
A way some children naturally develop language by first learning and using larger phrases or “chunks” of language before developing more flexible, self-generated language.
- Building on the phrases, scripts, and language patterns your child already uses
- Supporting increasingly flexible and self-generated communication
- Individualizing support based on your child’s communication profile
Across our work, we focus on meaningful communication and connection—not performance.
- Building communication that is functional and useful
- Respecting different ways of communicating
- Supporting skills that matter in everyday life
- Focusing on connection, autonomy, and participation
Supporting communication beyond the therapy session
Our goal is for a language-rich environment to become part of your child's everyday life, not something they only practice during therapy.
We also work directly with school age children to help them become self-aware, set and meet goals and build self-advocacy for their individual differences and needs in the classroom.
